Dangers of PGRs

PGR stands for Plant Growth Regulator and they are used by Dispensaries to increase profits at the cost of your health. The all cause cancer and most people do not even know they are smoking these chemicals when they purchase marijuana from commercial stores. Almost every store uses these chemicals.

PGR FAQS

This is a brief informational on the dangers of PGRs and why you should avoid them. Click the links for more detailed information.

Why are PGRS used

PGRs are used because they make marijuana denser, heavier, and more uniform giving a nicer look. Their only use is to increase profits not quality. They in fact degrade quality, lower trichome and terpene produciton and cause cancer.

How can I tell if my bud has PGR

Do not take their word for it. Stores have no problem lying to you and there is no law against this. You can easily tell if there is PGR on your bud by how it looks.

  • Marijuana is naturally uneven. If you see a perfectly round nug like the picture it has PGR.

  • Tough texture. It will be hard. Like a rock or some chemicals make it spongy instead.

  • Lack of smells or an artificial smell because stores spray scent back onto the flower because the PGR lowers terpene production.

  • Orange hairs instead of amber or red are a sign of PGR use and they will be abundant.

  • Breaking up into powder instead of chunks.

Types of PGRs

  • Chlormequat Chloride

This chemical is used to encourage flowering and makes the buds perfect looking like shown in the pictures labeled PGR BUD.  It has no positive effect on quality, rather it is used just to increase the "bag appeal" at the cost of your heath. It is carcinogenic and toxic. Some states have banned this already for MJ and is banned for food use nationwide.

  • Daminozide

This chemical lowers cannabinoid production and terpenes but makes flowers grow faster and denser. It is carcinogenic and banned for use in foods. Some states have banned it for MJ too.

  • Paclobutrazol

When combusted this carcinogenic chemical turns into nitrosamines which are extremely toxic and found in tobacco products. Some states have banned this already in MJ. It has been banned in food use for years. This chemical makes plants shorter, bushier, and increases flower production.

Recap

PGRs do nothing to improve the taste, smell, potency or quality. They all lower the quality while making a heavier, denser, better looking product to increase profits at the cost of giving you cancer.  Once you have the knowledge, its easy to spot PGR bud. Use the info links to learn more.
